Over The Top
In 1982 the Balloon Dance made its television debut as the Greatest Show On Legs, an act performed on the adult entertainment
show produced by Central Television for ITV. The show was aired at 11pm and pushed the limits of broadcasting to find out
what could be shown on television in the early 80s.
Nothing like this had even been seen before and you can see from the scared looks on the presenters faces that they were concerned that nothing went wrong.
O.T.T. only lasted 12 weeks, with a final compilation show,
but its live unpredictable broadcasts launched the balloon dance into the public eyes across the
nation. Since then The Oddballs have performed on shows across most channels and even on
foreign television shows.
A year after the first transmission of O.T.T. Chris Tarrant tried to resurrect the show using the name of Saturday Stayback.
